Kendrick Lamar and SZA are sharing today the music video for their hit collaboration, “Luther.”
As director for the GNX track’s visual, Karena Evans gave it a cinematic feel with a mix of black-and-white and in-color visuals of both protagonists sharing intimate moments with a respective partner. With a run-time of 5:12, not only do we get these beautifully-shot scenes of the former TDE label-mates in apartments, buildings, and restaurants isolated from society (with an emphasis on the luxury aesthetic associated with the era in which the album’s titular vehicle existed), but we also get to hear a lot more of Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn’s rendition of “If This World Were Mine,” the foundation to Kendrick and SZA’s version.
