With the release of their new album, Like All Before You, The Voidz set out to play a handful of shows between California and New York and I was lucky enough to attend their show at the iconic Apollo Theater.
As you all must know by now, I’m a bit of a The Strokes fanboy and I enjoy The Voidz almost as much, so when I planned a trip to New York and then this show was announced, all I knew was that I had to be there. The Strokes will always hold a special place in my heart because their Room On Fire show at the Aragon Ballroom was my very first concert, and then cut forward to 2014 when The Voidz played at The Vic Theatre became one of the first shows I ever shot (I believe it was actually the second) when I started pretending to be a photographer.
This time I was given a chance to capture the scenes of a hometown show for Julian Casablancas, something I had only experienced before as a fan in the crowd, and I got to shoot at a venue that’s been on my bucket list before I became a blogger.
The main thing that stood out to me from this performance was just how much better the new tracks sounded with the live mixing.
