Anitta brought all the dope vibes to the Aragon Ballroom last Saturday night, celebrating the sounds and dance moves from her Brazilian street culture on her Baile Funk Experience Tour stop in Chicago.
The show started with a quick glimpse of her South American roots with dancers doing capoeira and folkloric dances. Soon after, Anitta hit the stage and instantly demonstrated why she’s become an international superstar with a set that immersed the crowd in her Baile Funk Experience.
So much of Anitta’s music and artistry revolves around her sensuality and her ability to move her body in ways that impress men, women, they/thems, and anyone else in between — but I don’t think you can fully appreciate how impressive it is until you see her dance live. Add to that all the bangers in three different languages and even more genres, and you’ll see why the love fans have for this Girl from Rio goes well beyond her looks.
Hits got the reception you would expect, but cuts from her 2024 album Funk Generation also got the crowd moving like they’ve been bumping these tracks for years.
I will say, I’m a bit disappointed in Chicago for not selling out this concert. If you like partying, good vibes, shakin ya ass with some Brazilian flavor to it, and seeing an incredible artist putting on a high-energy, dance-driven spectacle… Then you should be at an Anitta concert.
