Roy Woods stopped by Chicago’s House of Blues and we were there to catch him live.
Roy Woods had the most energy I’ve seen from any performer. His voice is even better live and this man could SING. He was showing off his incredible riffs and range of voice and did not even get tired or out of breath throughout his set. He’s also super funny and kept doing lil silly dances on stage, which i did not expect for an R&B performer but he knew how to hype up the crowd. He mentioned how he wanted to be a dancer when he was younger and it showed.
He’s a true performer for real. Most of his fans have been fans way back in his 2016 days, and you could tell because they’d sing all his old songs like “How I Feel” and “Get You Good” the way only fans that have been singing those songs for years would do. The set list mixed his old music with songs from his recent album, Mixed Emotions, and the night ended on a high note by performing his biggest hit, “Drama.”
