Riot Fest 2023 has concluded and the final day of the fest was a dope one largely thanks to the choice of the iconic The Cure as the closing headliner. Robert Smith and crew were spectacular playing their Goth, Post-Punk classics, while Davey Havok and AFI made their case for getting booked to play a later set time on stage like that.
I really dug seeing The Dresden Dolls perform for the first time, and I can’t say this enough — bands please let us at least shoot photos from the side of the stage or the soundboard. Because of the photo restrictions (and wanting to land a good spot in the photographers’ line for The Cure) preventing us to take any shots, I had to see The Mars Volta from the side of the stage. I was rocking out, but only as much as you could while staring at a screen from the side of the stage (great set, though).
