Saturday night made a case for being the best of the fest when you take into account what the whole day has to offer. When the day started, I wouldn’t have guessed that’d be possible with the rain harshing my mellow right when I was getting to Grant Park and knowing what this meant for the fields for the rest of the weekend…. But just like other years, it added a bit of character to the experience, especially when you see the kids embracing the circumstances and going about their day without caring much for how their shoes. I feel like that kind of attitude was noticeable to performers because they sure as hell demonstrated that endeavor in their performances to make it all worth it.
One thing I wasn’t planning on was Tomorrow X Together leaving me impressed the way they did with their perfectly choreographed performance – I have to say, they were so electric and vibrant. It’s dope to see Lolla embrace different sounds and musical cultures, because the fans are there, from every type of background, so any time you get to bring people together like this is a cause for celebration. K-Pop may not be my usual genre of choice, but these boys made a compelling case to give this sound more respect and appreciate the energy they can bring to a festival. I’d go as far to say that TXT were one of the best performers I’ve seen all weekend, and you can expect them on my “Best of…” article once everything is said and done.
