Nine years ago, I was a 14 year old boy giving myself hearing damage by sitting in my bedroom and blasting Recess in my headphones. Next on Friday, February 17th, I’ll be doing the same thing with Quest for Fire, Skrillex’s recently announced second studio album. It’s the first of two album drops that Skrillex has coming out in the near future, and QFF is the hard hitting and sonically innovative electronic bass sounds of Skrillex that we all know and love him for.
Skrill premiered a 20 minute DJ set of the album’s tracklist live from his basement early Saturday afternoon which confirms features such as Porter Robinson, Missy Elliott, Fred Again.. as well as long awaited ID’s such as “Tears”, “Good Space” and “Inhale/Exhale”.
I personally could not be any more excited for this release. This influence this man has on the electronic genre really cannot be understated. When I report back with a review, I will be a changed man. Until then, you can hold yourself over with singles “Rumble”, “Xena”, and “Butterflies”.
