Rising Chicago artist Kayo has made another incredible addition to his discography with his debut album titled, ‘It Was Fun While It Lasted.’ This release features an all-star lineup of Chicago stars including (but not limited to) Femdot, Ausar, Morgan Gold, Senite and Elijah LeFlore.
The album covers an assortment of topics including mental health, relationships, struggle and everything in between. This project is not only an excellent expression of these topics through crafty storytelling and smooth choruses, but it also challenges listeners to tackle these issues alongside him.
When asked about his creative process in an interview with Novice Principles, Kayo explained, “ I kind of had the cheat code because I haven’t dropped a full body (album) in this way, so I got so much shit to talk about.” These culmination of themes never come across as too busy, but rather are incredibly cohesive and focused.
Shoutout to everyone involved in the creation of this extraordinary tape, I highly recommend this one as it’s already a favorite of mine for this year.
