Although all of these stellar Buffalo artists have been at it for years now, 2020 marked the Black Soprano Family’s first official release – ‘The Respected Sopranos’ alongside DJ Drama. This album officially started the Black Soprano Family discography and they’ve offered a plethora of dope cuts as an imprint since. Tracks such as “297 Parkside” (feat. Elcamino & Stove God Cooks) and “Times Is Rough” (feat. Heem B$F & Rick Hyde) off of ‘Long Live DJ Shay’ offer a pass-the-mic feel that gives listeners a range of styles and lyrics. Their cohesiveness as a group is impressive; you can tell BSF is a collective bonded far beyond music.
“We Here” is seemingly the group’s farewell offering for 2022 and even though it was a busy weekend for music releases, I’m glad this dope track made its way to my music library. This is a sub-five-minute cut that features wavy boom-bap production paired with resounding verses from Benny the Butcher, Elcamino, Rick Hyde, and Heem. If you haven’t heard of some of these guys, I’ll drop one of my favorite tracks from each below.
There are plenty of dope moments within this track, but Benny closing the track out with an absurdly braggadocios verse was the perfect way to wrap up a replayable track.
Stream “We Here” below and keep an eye out for Griselda’s full range of artists.
