Djo is back with a new track entitled “Gloom,” his latest preview of what’s to come on his forthcoming album, DECIDE, due out on September 16th.
While his last release “Change” immediately hooked me with that Psychedelic Pop vibe, new song “Gloom” takes a more straightforward approach that packs a lot of punch in just two minutes that’s making me excited to hear him play live. You can hear the Talking Heads inspiration behind this one, but it also feels like a riff he’d contribute if he were still a part of Post Animal, so it’s cool to hear Keery blending those styles for something that sounds like Djo. The second minute is all attitude and the music behind all the “Ready to go” lines being sung feel like they’ll get any crowd jumping and burning some energy.
The song arrives just in time for Lollapalooza 2022, where Djo will be performing on Sunday afternoon at Bud Light Seltzer stage and if you’re looking for more of an intimate experience, you can catch him at Bottom Lounge. As you can imagine by now, he’s on my shortlist of artists to see this weekend so if you’re also going to be there at Grant Park, let’s jam.
