Chatham’s-own, The Third, has released his first single of 2022, “OFF THE ROPES/STILL THAT GUY.” This track features production from Third himself and engineering from YungSavoye. This cut is slighted to be the first single off his forthcoming project and it features styles he has yet to explore, up until this point.
When discussing the song and its impact on his Instagram, he is cited saying, “This song is a testament to my overcoming. Even if my victory over these things are momentary. I still overcame: Fear. Self doubt. Depression. External pressure. Immobility. Etc.”
Aside from the track’s iconography, there are a lot of themes in reference to boxing in this track’s lyrics; in regard to this, The Third says, “My life has been a boxing match. A lot of times I’m fighting outside my weight class. But I’m a lot stronger than I know.”
