Dew From 2001 released a raw new track a few weeks back that’s paired with some unbelievably dope visuals. Although I’m a little behind on dropping this post, “WHERE U BEEN” deserves lots of love nonetheless. This cut was produced by Sriram Iyer (IG: @sriram___iyer__), Seph Driver (@sephdriver), and Dew (@dewfrom2001). The visuals were directed and edited by Matthew Saponar (@mattybsaps).
High levels of both creativity and confidence pour out of Dew for a solid 16 and a twice-repeated hook. The short verse leaves me fiending for more raps, but the brevity of this track is one of many components that contribute to its high replay value.
The production on this track is hard to get your head wrapped around… in the best way possible. Chopped-up samples, glitchy percussion, a crazy bass line, and other unique layers gel together in beautiful fashion to comprise the immaculate production of “WHERE U BEEN”. This beat is an absolute neck-breaker.
Want to also give a shoutout to director Matt Saponar for absolutely spazzing on the visuals for this track. His past work directing Don’t Be Kendall’s “BROTHER, MAN” stands out in my mind as one of my favorite videos of 2021, and his impressive track record continues with this video for “WHERE U BEEN”. Between the visuals and the music, there simply isn’t a dull moment to be found within this brief track.
