On the same day as Guatemala’s independence day, Kaina, the Guatemalan-Venezuelan artist from Chicago has returned to release a new song named “Casita.” The track marks her first release under the label City Slang.
The singer-songwriter’s track is infused with Latin music elements, from the instrumentation to the bilingual lyrics detailing mixed feelings about growing up with the simultaneous feeling that her home was “not enough” but also filled with so much life. It’s cool to see that the lyric video switches between English and Spanish, operating as a translation to what’s being spoken/sung to help the viewer be able to follow along the whole through.
