The Weeknd has shared his new single “Take My Breath,” along with a music video directed by Cliqua. The track will appear on the forthcoming new album the Canadian artist teasingly discuss in his recent GQ global cover story (the magazine’s first ever global issue in 90 years) this week.
Sonically, Abel Tesfaye shows he’s still got a thing for shimmery synths, but now the track focuses more on Disco with an energetic bass line and this persistent palm-muted guitar riff that make you want to get up and dance. The track was co-produced by The Weeknd with Max Martin and Oscar Holter. I’ve been craving modern Disco songs, and this song is doing it for me.
The visual looks like The Weeknd hit a club in The Matrix with all that black leather and those metal chain accessories.
