Last night Cleveland based indie rock outfit Cloud Nothings performed their first sold out at Empty Bottle. This show was the first of their fall tour and tonight (Aug. 20) will be their second.
The band played an enigmatic set showing fans that they still have their virtuosic garage rock styling while simultaneously showing fans their new post-punk direction. Songs like Nothing Like You were played extremely punk which generally wouldn’t be a genre I would classify their music as. Drummer Jayson Gerycz was a definitive highlight of the show, playing his absolute heart out throughout each track.
The band still includes a decent amount of fanservice playing crowd favorites I’m Not Part of Me and Stay Useless near the ladder end of their set. The crowd also began to pick up near the end starting a mosh pit for the encore.
If you were lucky enough to buy a ticket to tonight’s show make sure you catch their entire set because they truly still got it.
