Michelle Zauner, BKA Japanese Breakfast is announcing today her next album will be entitled Jubilee and it will arrive June 4th via Dead Oceans.
The announcement also brings the music video for the 80s-synths, dance vibes of lead single “Be Sweet.” The low-budget sci-fi film aesthetics for the video come from the directorial vision of Zauner herself, in which she stars along with Mannequin Pussy’s Missy. Watch it above.
Zauner says of the song:
After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow up to be about joy. For me, a third record should feel bombastic and so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one. I wrote ‘Be Sweet’ with Jack Tatum from Wild Nothing a few years ago. I’ve been holding onto it for so long and am so excited to finally put it out there.
