Fiona Apple has shared her new music video for “Shameika,” one of the standout tracks from what’s largely considered one of the best albums of 2020, Fetch The Bolt Cutters.
The black and white animated video was directed by Matthias Brown and it kicks off with the voice of Shameika Stepney, Apple’s former elementary school classmate that inspired the song.
The video’s concept is rather simple, which follows a set of lips floating on a 2-D journey which is entertaining. But the visual is being shared along with a process video, a time-lapse look at how every cell was drawn out and pieced together to form the animation we see as the final product. Absolutely fascinating.
On top of that, Apple connects with Shameika once more for the rapper’s “Shameika Said,” which you can hear below.
