The fifth episode of our favorite cartoon band’s Song Machine has dropped today. For this one, Gorillaz has connected with ScHoolboy Q for a super dope track entitled “PAC-MAN.” The beat is smooth and has a vintage vibe that would be perfect back in the sampling golden age of Hip Hop, so it makes total sense that ScHoolboy Q bodies his part.
The song was produced by Prince Paul, Remi Kabaka Jr. and Gorillaz and recorded in London just before lockdown. The release date was no coincidence, with this collab track arriving on the 40th anniversary of the much-loved iconic game.
The visual directed by Jamie Hewlett shows the animated group playing the arcade game while Q is shown recording his bars in the studio, with flashes of lights highlighting parts of him in a style very similar to the graphics from that era during which the game came out.
