Chicago’s own Dehd are announcing today their sophomore album, entitled Flower of DevotionĀ and it will arrive on July 17th via Fire Talk.
About the songwriting from Emily Kempf and Jason Ball, the former says:
“We both went through hell, literally, and the world seems to be going through hell, too…. Iām obsessed with being with people, or Iāll have my identity attached to a partnership, whether itās romantic or in the band… “How can I be utterly alone and chill?”
Balla experienced profound loss of his own, adding that the album is about “all the fixes you try to put on your problems,ā he says, āstruggling with bad impulses.ā
The news also brings the lead single, “Loner,” along with its music video.
