The Killers are unveiling today new details about their forthcoming sixth studio album, which is set for release on May 29, 2020 on Island Records. Imploding The Mirage was produced by the band in conjunction with Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado of Foxygen – was recorded in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Park City, UT. The album is the first the band has written and recorded since leaving their hometown of Las Vegas, and another first this time around is that they’ve enlisted a cast of contributors, among which are Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel of War On Drugs, Blake Mills, and Lucius.
Along with learning how this album came to be, the band has released its first single, “Caution.” The intro feels like it’s going for an ambient, spacey sound, but then the band kicks in and takes you in a synth-y Pop Rock direction. Lindsey Buckingham was the one in charge of delivering the sick guitar solo you hear going into the last minute of the song.
But wait, there’s more…. Brandon Flowers and crew are announcing additional dates around the globe to their already sold-out UK and European tour this summer.
