Toronto’s own Jessie Reyez has released her debut album today. Before Love Came to Kill Us has arrived and it delivers 14 tracks, among which you’ll be able to hear features from Eminem and 6LACK.
Reyez should’ve been in the middle of supporting Billie Eilish on tour and playing the new material in front of thousands of fans, but at least COVID-19 couldn’t stop the world from getting to hear the album altogether. Reyez spoke to The New York Times on why she still released the album now:
It messed me up because I was like ‘I don’t want to seem insensitive.’ I’ve grown up thinking about death as something that could easily happen tomorrow. But I know that for everybody else, there’s a lot of fear right now. I’m conflicted. But I’ve decided I’m putting out because indecision never did anything for nobody.
