Lana Del Rey played the iconic Aragon Ballroom this past Friday night as part of the second North American leg of The Norman Fucking Rockwell Tour. The captivating singer was touring in support of her stellar new album, produced & co-written with Jack Antonoff.
Lucy Dacus was tasked with helping open the show that night and would wind up coming back out during LDR’s set to do a live rendition together of her track “Night Shift.” That wasn’t the only guest appearance of the evening, as Lana surprised fans by bringing out Bethany Consentino to cover the Best Coast track “When I’m With You” together and then giving Consentino the stage to play “Up All Night.” Unluckily for me, the duet was the performance that started right as us photographers were being escorted out after taking our shots, but it was dope to witness for as much as I could.
Lana Del Rey has released one of the best albums of the year in Norman Fucking Rockwell!, so it was a hell of treat to be in the same building as her for the album’s title track & “Bartender,” along with the “For Free” Joni Mitchell cover that she performed as she sat elegantly on top of a piano. From the moment she hit the stage she created a space that allowed everyone in attendance to embrace being in their feels, forming a collective connection that was worth every penny paid for the concert ticket.
