This year marked the highly-anticipated return of The Black Keys, with the Akron, OH band delivering their first album in five years which was eventually followed by the announcement of an accompanying tour.
I got a chance to be one of the photographers that was able to cover Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney’s appearance at Chicago’s United Center, and for the short moment I was in the arena, the Friday night show felt like it was worth the wait. The customary photo policy allowed me to capture shots of the band playing an old fan favorite, “I Got Mine,” plus new joints “Eagle Birds” & “Tell Me Lies.” I walked out to seeing the UC erupt once they heard “Gold on the Ceiling” and it looked spectacular.
What a fine night for Rock & Roll, baby!
This was the biggest show that the fan in me has covered. The Black Keys are one of my favorite bands and I can assure you from what I saw that if you haven’t yet bought your tickets for the “Let’s Rock” Tour when it hits cities like Detroit, Toronto, Orlando, Atlanta, or Vancouver, I strongly suggest you to do so immediately or risk missing out.
