FC Barcelona are the latest club to drop one of the new kits they’ll be wearing for the upcoming 2019-20 season. This time around, La Liga champions be setting aside their traditional blaugrana stripes and has opted instead for a checkered pattern a la Croatia.
Defender Gerard Piqué said in the news release: “The kit is something new and exciting… It might be different, but it is 100 percent Barca and it is even better that the design represents the bond the club has with the supporters and the people who are driving the city forward.”
This new checkboard look follows 2015-16’s switch from stripes for hoops, and the design is only the second shift from the club’s norm. The 2019-20 FC Barcelona home kit was released today (June 3) and will be available globally June 4.
