This comeback is looking pretty satisfying already… The Strokes performed one of their first sets together last night at a benefit show. Those in attendance in LA’s The Wiltern got the debut performance of “The Adults Are Talking,” the first new song to surface from the band since they released 2016’s Future Present Past EP.
Y’all must already know by now that this is my favorite group…. But still, I’ve got to say I’m digging it. The track combines vintage guitar work from Albert Hammond Jr and Nick Valensi within a Post Punk vibe, plus you’ll be treated to some of the more eccentric vocals leader Julian Casablancas has been exploring more since founding The Voidz. I’m going to be seeing them when they finally return to Chicago for Lollapalooza this year, and I can tell ya right now that I would seriously want this one on the setlist.
Check it out above.
The show was in benefit for The Center in Hollywood & Food Cycle LA. According to a news release, the evening efforts raised over $250,000 with all proceeds to be shared directly.
The Strokes have a number of dates on their 2019 schedule, with the next one being their stop in Toronto headlining at Budweiser Stage on May 20. From there you’ll be able to catch them at festivals like London’s All Points East Festival, New York’s Governors Ball, Bilbao BBK Live Festival, and Ireland’s Electric Picnic.
