It’s safe to assume Jorja Smith’s and Kali Uchis’ rise to stardom began on two very different paths. As Jorja’s reach in the R&B realm stretched beyond her home country of Britain, Kali began making moves in the US that exemplified her Colombian descent and “genre-defying” style. Fast-forward to 2019, and the two join forces to embark around the North America on “The Kali and Jorja Tour”.
May 20 was Seattle’s turn to host the electrifying duo, performing back to back sets at the WAMU Theater on Monday night. Kali kicked off the night with her chart-topping “Loner” and kept fans in a daze until Jorja Smith had her turn to cap off the night. Luckily, Jorja and Kali linked on stage for the encore set and made sure to treat the screaming fans with a rendition of their 2017 hit, “Tyrant”. Even with two powerhouse acts on the bill, one can never get enough Kali & Jorja.
