Glory, glory Man United! I’ve been a long-time admirer of the northern English, and though I may not be the most confident of what the next season has in store for MUFC, at least the home kit is looking pretty legit.
This red jersey commemorates the 20th anniversary 0f the historic treble season, further styling the crest in celebration of that 1998-99 squad that became the first (and to this day, only) to win the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, shown in gold with a black background, inspired by the one worn that season, and white shorts and black socks complete the kit.
The Champions League victory in Barcelona is further incorporated in the shirt’s design by way of the time stamp in which both goals from that triumph over Bayern Munich were scored (in the 91st and 93rd minutes) shown on the sleeves, along with the dates of the three title wins also being displayed along the bottom of the shirt.
The purple goalkeeper’s jersey also pays homage to the past, inspired by the shirt Peter Schmeichel wore that season, adding an all-over tiger pattern print.
