Bold, bold move from Chelsea FC. The 2018-19 Premier League season has not yet concluded but Nike has already revealed the London club’s new jersey for next year.
Stamford Bridge has been Chelsea’s home since 1905 and it’s the inspiration for the 2019-20 home kit, with the stadium’s iconic North Stand, the East and West Stands and the raucous Shed End being used as abstract print featured throughout the club’s classic blue shirt.
The V-necked shirt has a red and white CFC monogram on the back of the collar features the crest’s lion plus the word “Pride of London” written around it (the Blues mantra). The shorts, also blue, are complemented by white socks that have Chelsea’s traditional red and blue trim.
Along with the bold design is the simple fact the club announced the new shirt led by star Eden Hazard, who is strongly rumored to be on the way out (potentially to Real Madrid). Clubs usually keep players in this situation out of the mix for these promos, but I guess this is their way of showing fans at least a glimpse of what next season could’ve looked like with Hazard on the squad.
The 2019-20 Chelsea home kit will debut May 4 during the club’s final league home game of the season.

The new kit will be available for sale beginning May 2 on nike.com/chelsea and at the Stamford Bridge Megastore.
Eden Hazard said in a press release:
We’ve created so many memories at The Bridge over the years, so it’s only fitting that we pay tribute to such an iconic stadium through the jersey.
