Check Out Our Top Can’t-Miss Events of SXSW 2019

SXSW 2019 is upon and you already know the POD crew will be down in ATX to check out what the festival. For our 6th time in a row roaming around the city of Austin we’d like to share with y’all what we consider to be the key experiences to chase this year.

Check out the list below.

The Capital One House (March 8-11)

If you’re in town for SXSW Interactive, you’ll still find some events that also cater to your eyes via the Capital One House. In addition to performances each night from March 8-11th at Antone’s, you’ll be treated to unplugged acoustic sessions from Bishop Briggs, CHRVCHES, and Jacob Banks along with short Q&As with the artists.

The Fender Next House (March 14-15)

The very first guitar I got was a Fender Stratocaster at the turn of the aughts and my love for this guitar maker has only grown since. This interactive pop-up has plenty to keep guitar fans entertained thanks to workshops, artist and Fender Exec Q+As, and artist performances featuring Cuco, Japanese Breakfast, Cautious Clay, Sam Fender and more.

FLOODfest (March 12-13)

The fifth anniversary of FLOODfest at south by has an eclectic lineup and this is a great example to what dig so much about this Austin-based festival. The roster boasts a stop from ATL legends Dungeon Family (feat. Big Boi, Goodie Mob, and Organized Noize’s Sleepy Brown)’s highly anticipated reunion tour, as well as Broken Social Scene, White Denim, Leikeli47, & Priests. A little bit of everything to always keep the vibes going.

Game Of Thrones activation – Bleed For The Throne (March 7-12)

If you’re a fan of this HBO series, then surely you know the show is soon coming to an end. Which means that this Game Of Thrones-SXSW experience is one of your last chances to participate in an event before the finale. Along with being able to check out props, you can also do a good thing by donating blood as part of the #ForTheThrone initiative in support of the American Red Cross.

Also, it’s GOT. You really don’t need any further motivation.

Music Keynote: Adam Horovitz and Michael Diamond of Beastie Boys with Amazon Music’s Nathan Brackett (March 15)

The surviving Beastie Boys, Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) & Michael Diamond (Mike D) will discuss the classic Hip Hop trio’s storied past, rise to fame, and other topics that were featured in their eponymous New York Times Bestseller, Beastie Boys Book. For any fan of Hip Hop (*with a badge, sorry), this is one keynote you just can’t miss.

Spice by Spice West (March 16)

Chicago over everything! Our local scene has been one of the best contributors to music this decade and the stream of artists making a name for themselves keeps growing. This showcase will give you a good slice of what to look out for from Chicago with performances from the likes of Valee, Jean Deaux, and Queen Key. The homie Vic Lloyd will also be around for this one.

Food in Austin is an experience, but for SXSW, that’s taken up a notch of course. Uber Eats House is the intersection where dope food and dope artists come together to treat so many of your senses. The musical lineup is legit with POD faves like young phenoms Billie Eilish and Khalid plus Virgil Abloh. However, you’ll also have fire gastronomic options like Milk Bar, a vegan menu by CHLOE, and the OG, McDonald’s.

On top of all that, Momofuku’s own David Chang is hosting an exclusive (i.e. invitation only) dinner experience called The Asian Potluck that sounds supremely dope… So if you’ve got that RSVP link handy, feel free to hit my line!
