The Killers have delivered a new track they’re calling “Land of the Free,” which arrives paired with its accompanying music video from none other than Spike Lee. The stand-alone piano-led track was recorded at their Battle Born Studios, has a distinctly patriotic vibe in a similar fashion to how many people see Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The USA.”
Brandon Flowers and crew were joined by a gospel choir to drive home the lyrics about this being a country of immigrants that isn’t very welcoming to new peoples these days, as well as the difficulty of being a person of color and our prison issue. Not a bad way to use your voice to reach people.
For the music visual the Academy Award-winning director was giving full creative control, and Lee used that liberty to capture scenes of the US/Mexico border and the painful troubles the migrants families face trying to reach the good ol’ U.S. of A. Check that out above.
