Greta Van Fleet played the first of their three shows headlining Chicago’s iconic Aragon Ballroom, and it was a hell of an experience.
The Kiszka brothers (and drummer/longtime family friend, Danny Wagner) put on display that they have that special something that allows them to captivate a crowd in such an infectious way. While it featured the makings of any good rock show including hoots and hollers, air guitar playing (as epic as Jake’s solos), and fists punching the skies… you could still tell there was a little something extra there too. I saw so many fans of different generations all rocking out together. As cheesy as it may sound, but this is the power of Rock & Roll. A bunch of different types of peoples congregating to see some heart-pumping music being played; a glimpse into an era where this was the kind of music that was much easier to chase and whose pool of artists kept finding new ways to make three chords punch.
But the vibe that night went far beyond the excitement of a crowd finally hearing a modern Rock band that could fit right in with their 70s record collection, as the GVF boys showed their true mettle. Their presence was electric, sure, but they’ve got some real jams.
