The co-headline 2018 tour brought to us by Joywave and Sir Sly managed to sell out their Seattle tour stop on two separate occasions. Following speculation that all tickets had been acquired by an online bot used for re-sale purposes, tickets were reintroduced and sold out the old-fashioned way, as fans of both emerging indie-rock groups filled the Neptune Theatre to its max capacity. Whether you’re there for Joywave or Sir Sly, you’re bound for a great night of music
Both groups came in with a prior history of performing in Seattle, yet each band acknowledged that Friday night was their biggest headline show to-date in the Pacific Northwest. 2018’s, “Joywave and Sir Sly Present: An Evening with Sir Sly and Joywave” tour was the platform each band needed to prove their here to stay.
Sir Sly started off the night, backed by an intimate performance from frontman Landon Jacobs and scattered with fan-favorite hits like “High”, “&Run”, and “Gold”. Joywave, back to the Neptune Theatre after opening up for Betty Who in 2014, did not disappoint in their first go at a headline opportunity in the Seattle music scene. Daniel Armbruster’s stage presence alone is worth the price of admission, it’s just an added bonus that he’s accompanied by performances of new hits like 2018’s “Blastoff” and chart-topping “Tongues”.
Consensus of the night: Simply one evening with Joywave and Sir Sly is not enough.
