“I like to sing about shit I don’t like to talk about,” reads Jessie Reyez’ Spotify artist bio. And judging off her live performance, her fans are all for it. She is vulnerable & passionate, and it’s clear she has no regrets. She draws inspiration from her past and shares emotional nights with fans lucky enough to catch her sold-out shows. Reyez turned what could have been an ordinary stop on her tour into an emotional night filled with both laughs and tears, rarely do you see such an artist engage so much with their fans.
Jessie Reyez sold out The Crocodile in Seattle on Monday, October 15, and although it’s only her second solo headline tour, she proved her fanbase can go far beyond the 550 person capacity of the Seattle venue. Put her in a small and intimate theatre, or a give her a slot in a major music festival, and she will give you a show to remember. Reyez’ ability to connect with her audience is praiseworthy.
