POD Photos: Bumbershoot 2018

Seattle, no stranger to the vibrant music scene, underwent its biggest festival of the year this past Labor Day weekend, bringing along acts that appealed to both the younger and older generations of music fans. While headliners included J. Cole, The Chainsmokers, and SZA, Bumbershoot 2018 included genres spanning from Hip-Hop, Electronic, and Alternative Rock, allowing for an audience of all ages to enjoy a music-filled weekend. Music icons such as Lil Wayne, Ludacris, and T Pain proved their still worthy to garner massive audiences and survive in the ever-growing rap game. On the flip side, fan favorites J. Cole and SZA gave us a taste of why they’re at the top of the music industry right now; their ability to engage with their audience and provide an hour-long set filled with their greatest hits only left us wanting more. Even for those out of the Hip-Hop realm, the festival main stage held can’t-miss acts such as Pacific Northwest natives Portugal. The Man, critically-acclaimed Alternative band Phoenix, and chart-topping Electronic/Pop music duo The Chainsmokers.

Now that the weekend is behind us, we can say 2018 has arguably been Bumbershoot’s most successful year yet, in terms artists on the lineup and eager fans waiting to fill up the festival grounds at the Seattle Center under the iconic Space Needle. If Bumbershoot’s growth in the past couple of years is any indication of what’s to come for the future, we’re excited for what Bumbershoot 2019 will bring to the table.
