Hidden Gems: MaZhe

After indulging most of my time into the latest Wu-Tang album, I figured it was time to resurface and drop another gem to the public. POD readers, I give you MaZhe.

Originally from San Diego, MaZhe’s gifted flow was a good combination of that west coast vibe and raw reality. I stumbled upon him a couple months ago when he rapped over one of my favorite Vic Mensa beats, ‘Orange Soda.’

Overall, his verses are flawless and it’s nice to listen to someone with something to say. His versatility is also a strong point. But, ALL of his beats are amazing. The diversity of sound really puts his music in its own genre. Which is where his undeniable versatility comes into play. His ability to switch up from the soothing tones of MesmeriZed to killing it with MAD, easily showcases the broad talent of MaZhe.

I had to tune in his latest drop of What I Learned. The ten-track piece was immediately thrown in daily rotation. As many artists put their heart and soul into a project, Mazhe does just that and more. Although it’s quite the cliche to say, “conscious rapper,” I believe the young artist pulls you in and actually makes you think. Something that a lot of music doesn’t do nowadays.

Safe to say every track serves its purpose.  This project shows his continuous progression, hence the title. It’s undoubtedly a great reflection on the young artists’ life, and the trial-and-error that everyone goes through along the way to their goals. But it’s not just on this project, it’s prevalent that he’s been hard at work and doesn’t look to let up any time soon.

So, tune in with the kid.
