Open Mike Eagle has shared his music video for “No Selling (Uncle Butch Pretends It Don’t Hurt).” The video was an instant hit for us here at POD given that the Chicago native chose a wrestling theme.
In the clip directed by Brent Bishop, OPM plays multiple roles as a manager (a la Jimmy Hart for Hulk Hogan), a ref, and ring announcer. The video stars Kimmy Gatewood from Netflix’s G.L.O.W., and real-life wrasslers Trauma and Human Tornado also appear. As the YouTube description states: “Mike, using a wrestling metaphor (‘selling,’ or playing up, the pain inflicted by an opponent) to interrogate the concept of masculinity.”
