I am a firm believer in putting my friends onto anything amazing that I may come across. Because, well, if you all aren’t not putting each other onto decent music… Are you even really friends? Therefore, I started up the newest feature here at POD, Hidden Gems, which will highlight some great artists (some of my favorite) that deserve way more credit for their craft.
I really haven’t felt this excited about an artist in a while. All of June has been filled with the soothing tones of this young guy’s talents, and he’s the perfect night cap to vibe to whether y0u’re laid up with bae or amongst an intimate group of friends.
His name is Omar Apollo.
This young artist hailing all the way from Indiana, has a musical talent beyond his years. The angelic tone of his voice is unmatched. Easily reminds me of a mixture between River Tiber, Daniel Caesar and Miguel. If this trio were to ever have a spiritual love child and it was raised in the late 80’s by Frank Ocean and Lauryn Hill; this is possibly the closest comparison I have to describe Mr. Apollo.
One of the first songs that I heard from this talented soul was actually his latest release, ‘ugotme’, and I was hooked. The track is a mere 2 minutes, however it’s quite the track that carries a nostalgic trip to adolescence. It’s beautiful to say the least.

Undoubtedly vocally & instrumentally gifted, this is one artist that’ll definitely leave you speechless. Below are some of my favorites, but continue on to the goldmine that is his Soundcloud and thank me later.
