The premier Hip Hop festival in Minnesota and in our opinion, the best in the country, is only days away and we are really excited to be making our 4th trip to officially cover Soundset. As always, the festival provides a great combination of legends, current stars and stars of the future all in one lineup. Below are our top 10 acts we are looking forward to seeing rock a Soundset stage.
Thinking of making the trip to Soundset’s 10th Anniversary and don’t have tickets yet? You still have time to cop some HERE. Don’t tweak.
Pusha T
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/YAFVu_A4OwQ” /]
King Push is taking some time off from helping Ye work on his forthcoming album in Wyoming to bless us with what will surely be a very dope set this Sunday. Will we be getting some new material from his yet to be released King Push album? We’ll find out Sunday. I’d be perfectly fine with seeing him perform My Name Is My Name joints, though. Or maybe he brings Kanye with to test out some new material. That’d be cool too.
Aminé
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/3j8ecF8Wt4E” /]
Aminé was one of my favorite acts at SXSW this past March in Austin, so I will certainly be front and center to see his Soundset set. The Portland emcee will be rocking the Fifth Element stage this Sunday, so the vibes in that tent are going to so crazy. Really excited to see his performance of “REDMERCEDES.”
T.I.
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/z9H5_zDoBrU” /]
T.I. will be going down as one of Hip Hop’s greats when its all said and done, and I don’t believe anyone will argue that. With the extensive catalog that Tip has on his hands, it will be interesting to see what the Atlanta OG will give the Soundset crowd. My money is on him performing the song up above.
070 Shake
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/FirPqCMIekA” /]
070 Shake is pretty popular amongst the POD staff, so I will be getting to the Minnesota Fairgrounds early to see what the young New Jersey native does during her set. We suggest you do the same. You may be seeing a future star this Sunday.
Travis Scott
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/zmFm9Yp80dE” /]
If you’re making the trip to Soundset from anywhere in the country, 49 states to be exact, you NEED t0 stick around for Travis’ headlining set. I’ve seen him perform in front of 150 people and like 20,000 people, kills it every single time. Plus, you may be in the crowd to see him perform “Goosebumps” 16 times and break his own record. Can’t miss that.
Ty Dolla $ign
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/TzXz-xLB1-0″ /]
The only time I saw Ty Dolla $ign perform live was years back and I believe “Paranoid” was in its early stages of becoming a massive hit. Since then, Sir Dolla $ign has amassed quite a few more hits and I am really looking forward to his set. The song up above will be a crowd favorite for sure.
thestand4rd
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/Y4WwcJUhkXs” /]
Four young artists, thestand4rd, from Minneapolis will be headlining the Fifth Element stage at this years Soundset. How awesome is that? Bobby Raps, Psymun, Allan Kingdom and Spooky Black will surely bring their A game to impress their hometown natives and out of towners alike.
Lil Uzi Vert
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/zqflC-as2Qo” /]
Hate him or love him, Lil Uzi Vert is quickly becoming one of Hip Hop’s biggest rockstars and you can’t be mad at that. It will be tough to do the Lil Uzi Vert challenge and take photos in the photo pit at the same, but its a challenge I’m willing to accept. Someone has to do it. His performance of “XO Tour Llif3” is going to be so wild.
Mac Miller
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/LR3GQfryp9M” /]
Mac Miller has been growing as an artist from album to album and we’re all for it. His live show has always been a strong point for him, so I’m sure he won’t disappoint. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen Mac live, so this a set I will be tuned in for from start to finish.
Lauryn Hill
[arve url=”https://youtu.be/T6QKqFPRZSA” /]
Soundset has been marketing Lauryn Hill’s set as a “special performance” since they released the official lineup and I’m interested to see what happens Sunday evening. It seems like she will have a bit more time on stage than the rest of the acts before her, so it should be dope.
The official stage set times have been released, so you can get a head start on your schedule for Sunday by checking them out below. See y’all there!
