On 4/25, the Pigeons & Planes show, No Ceilings made a pit stop in Chicago’s Bottom Lounge to showcase some dope artists.
To kickoff the night, the rap duo of Chris Crack and Vic Spencer took the stage. Now known as Chri$ Spencer, the two took the audience by surprise as they were not listed to perform. Nonetheless, they set the mood right as they performed a few of their own tracks along with a few songs off of their joint project titled Who The Fuck Is Chri$ Spencer?
Next one up was Kemba, formally known as YC The Cynic. The Bronx rapper stepped into the spotlight with his vintage mic and gave us a mellow and poetic start to his set. He performed his well-known Frank Drake-produced track titled “Already” among other joints that kept everyone vibin’ to thanks to his rhythmic bars. He closed his set with a more energetic track as he had everyone chanting the chorus “Do yo know who you fuckin’ with!?”
20 year old Orlando native Kaiydo followed and showcased himself as an upbeat, yet versatile artist. His set was nothing short of fun as the audience sang along to his catchy tracks like “Arcade” and, of course: “Fruitpunch.” The young rapper hasn’t been in the industry for long and shared with the audience that No Ceilings is actually his first tour. With that, I was very impressed with his performance as he showed he is one artist to look out for.
After Kaiydo came Michael Christmas to command the mic and he was nothing short of memorable. The Boston rapper gave so much love to Chicago as he took many moments to appreciate the city. He even gave a shoutout to Harold’s Chicken (aaayyy). With that being said, Mickey’s chemistry with the crowd was incredible and his presence had everyone smiling. He even went over his set limit yet no one was complaining. From “Michael Cera” to “Grab Her Hand,” Mickey was definitely a highlight of the night.
Last but not least, the highly-anticipated performer of the night, it was finally time for Boogie to close things out. He managed to keep the energy high as everyone sang and danced along to his tracks. From “Oh My” to “Nigg* Needs,” Boogie made a modestly-sized crowd feel like a crowd 3X the size that was actually there. He closed the night off right and made it a night to remember.
