Our last full day of shows down at SXSW 2017 simply had to be completely worthwhile, and it sure as hell did live up to that expectation.
The only thing that really mattered was the fact that Migos were headlining at the YouTube showcase, and that was all the information we needed to guide our plans for that Friday. The main event had the trio behind the biggest track around, “Bad and Boujee,” continue their hot streak with yet another stellar performance to cement their spot as one of the most popular acts in the nation.
Down at Brazos Hall, New Politics put on a show that was dope enough to convince the crowd that they would’ve been just as thrilled if the Danish outfit had been the headlining band. Crowdsurfing, parting the pit to make room for flips by lead singer David Boyd and even a cover of the Beastie Boys; these guys really had it all… Though that’s not to say actual headliners Weezer didn’t hit the stage to remind everyone in attendance exactly how much they Rock. A greatest hits setlist that also boasted newly-released song “Feels Like Summer,” easily helped them land on our list of best of the fest.
