Daaaaamn Chano, back at it again with another initiative to help the children of Chicago! Chance The Rapper has held another press conference today in Chicago at Paul Robeson High School, during which he announced the launch of Arts and Literature Fund for Chicago Public Schools.
Previously, Chance announced a $1 million donation for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), using his nonprofit Social Works to hold a running campaign calling for more donations. For every $100K they raise, $10K will go to a specific Chicago public high school or elementary school. Donate here.
At today’s event, Chance delivered the news that since the previous conference he has raised $2.2 million for CPS, including contributions from Scooter Braun (AKA Kanye West’s & Justin Bieber’s manager) and Hannibal Buress. The biggest revelation on that front was the fact that the Chicago Bulls have matched the $1 million originally brought to the table.
Chance also announced the launch of the New Chance Arts and Literature Fund, which “will bring arts programs and materials to schools.” In a collaboration with the Children’s First Fund and in partnership with Ingenuity, the fund will be investing resources directly into CPS starting at the beginning of the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.
