This weekend was a historic one for Wayne Rooney, who scored his 250th goal for Manchester United. The goal scored in a 1-1 draw against Stoke City made Rooney the all-time leading goalscorer for United, reaching the feat in 12 years with the club, 5 years faster than the previous record holder, Sir Bobby Charlton.
Last fall Rooney broke another record when he became England’s all-time leading scorer with 50 goals.
To celebrate the historic achievement Nike has announced the special edition Hypervenom WR250. The new kicks come in red and white, the colors he sports for both club and country, with a special logo created featuring a crown and his record breaking number on the tongue of the boot. According to Nike, when placed side-by-side, the pair forms the St George’s Cross across the uppers, connecting to England once more.

The sockliner pays tribute to the Wayne Rooney Foundation, through which Rooney shares his experience to inspire and give back to children. The foundation hosted a testimonial charity match this past August to raise money for four different charities to support underprivileged youth.
*The Hypervenom WR250 will available from nike.com starting January 23.
