Welcome to the first “Music To Survive Monday”, a weekly segment every Monday morning featuring an artists music to get you through the day. This week features Tommy Paxton-Beesly aka River Tiber, a true triple threat artist who is a singer, song writer, and producer from Toronto.
Recently, I was shown his music off of his recent album “Indigo” that dropped in 2016. From the first listen, I was honestly amazed to hear how complex his sound came together. From first listen, River Tiber gave me a James Blake vibe, however diving deeper into his discography he is way more than just that. This guy has actually been putting in work for a minute, by being featured on some of my favorite songs of the past few years. A few notable examples are his collaboration with Drake on “No Tellin'” (that still is a top 5 Drake song to me) and Kaytranada’s 99.9% album on the song “Vivid Dreams”
To me, River Tiber makes his mark with the crazy samples he uses for his dark production, mixed well together with his voice. One example this is evident is on the song “Im A Stone”, where he gives his own spin to Young Thug’s “Stoner” in a incredibly unique way. Enough explaining though, here it for yourself with a handful of my favorite songs by him below. He’ll also be in Chicago on 1/27 at the Metro w/D.R.A.M., so make sure to cop tickets before they sell out!
