2016 was weird year for everything besides music, which had one of the dopest years to date. Although, it will be hard to top, I think we might get there in 2017 with the amount of artists ready to drop projects. What we learned from last year is expect the unexpected. With that in mind, here are my 5 bold rap predictions that could end up becoming true. Who knows, the predictions I made last year went 3 for 5, so maybe I’m the new prophet. Check this years out below:
1. Quavo Finally gives a Solo Project and its one of the best of the year
Quavo, best known for being part of the group Migos, has been rumored to release a solo project for a minute. This became apparent when he started basically destroying everybody’s feature verses from Travis Scott’s Oh My to GOOD Music’s Champions to O.T. Genasis’s Push it Remix. He then teased us even more by releasing a handful of solo tracks that increased the hype further. To say I’m ready for this album is an understatement. If you’re reading this Quavo, I’m not saying pull a Beyonce because Takeoff & Offset don’t deserve that, just bless us with a solo project in 2017 for the culture.

2. Femdot and Brill are the next two Chicago artists to blow up Nationwide
I’ve wrote about Femdot before in my Cool Kids concert review, but this dude is seriously so dope. His rap ability is one of the most versatile in game. He can give you lyrical storytelling songs like Crossroads or straight hits like totheoneoutsouth. As a result, I believe whatever project he releases in 2017 will get recognition from coast to coast. If you’re still sleeping on Femdot, wake up because he’s gonna be a known star after this year is over. He has the lyrics, live performance ability, and ear for beats to have a promising career for years.

SaveMoney really has the cities best kept secret right here with singer Brill. You can tell this dude is gonna be superstar from his voice, to his videos, to the quality music he keeps putting out. I’m looking forward to whatever he puts out in 2017 and I would bet money one those songs will catch fire propelling him to household name. He’s already off to a good start with his new single That Luv featuring a crazy verse by Logan. SaveMoney Can’t Lose.

3. Goldlink Finally Gets Radio Play and the Mainstream Recognition He Deserves
Goldlink is one of the most creative artists of my generation and its sad to me that some people are not onto his wave yet. This dude makes music that are just pure jams and immediately makes you want to start dancing. The best thing about Goldlink is he really sounds like nobody out there right now, setting him apart from the field. 2017 is gonna be a huge for him as he has already released some monster singles “Fall in Love” & “Crew”. My bet is by the end of the year he will be all over the radio and everybody will finally know how ill this guy is. The radio needs Goldlink and when it happens in 2017 the world will be a better place.

4. Vic Mensa Drops 2017’s Critically Acclaimed Project of the Year
Chance’s Coloring Book became 2016’s critically acclaimed project of the year, I think 2017 will be Vic’s time. He already gave us a taste of how crazy potentially crazy the album will be with his EP in 2016 “There’s A Lot Going On”. On it he had hits like 16 Shots, deep tracks on Shades of Blue, and some of Vic’s most personal songs to date. After that release, it’s all set up for Vic to finally give us his Roc Nation debut album and I think it’s gonna be a timeless classic. He’s been working on it for years and with the help of Hov there is no way it won’t be complete fire. 2017 is Vic’s year, end of story.

5. A$AP Rocky drops his 3rd album and puts him into the best rapper alive discussion
It’s amazing to me that when people have the best rapper alive discussion it’s only J Cole, Drake, or Kendrick, while A$AP Rocky gets overlooked. He deserves as much recognition as any of those rappers, as he’s given us dope projects for years since LiveLoveA$AP. On top of this, Rocky is the most creative rappers out there with the sounds he experiments with, to the incredible visuals he uses, to even his fashion sense. I don’t care what anybody says A$AP Rocky is the most creative rapper of my generation and after his 3rd album drops nobody will be able to ignore that fact.
