I’t almost thanksgiving and that means its time to count everything you’re thankful for. 2016 has been a ridiculous year for music, so its only right to look back on it and count all the blessings rappers gave us. Here is my list of 10 songs I’m thankful dropped in 2016:

Still Watching – Rockie Fresh

Everything about this song is fire from The beat to the hook and the music video. This was the song I would put on in car, turn up as loud as possible & feel like the man speeding down the highway. Thank you Rockie for giving me this feeling throughout the year.

500 Horses – Cousin Stizz

Stizz has been putting on Boston for a minute and this song is by far my favorite from him. 2016 often felt like a movie, when that happened I turned on this song and thought I was a character straight outta Ocean’s 11.

X- 21 Savage

21 21 21 21. If you can’t rap 21 Savage’s first verse word for word, were you even living your 2016 right? Thank you 21 savage for the ultimate flex on these lames anthem, because there are a lot out there and you know who you are.

Find Me – Khary

This song got me through days where I was not very motivated, but knew I had to keep putting in work to reach my goals. Find Me is about believing in yourself and riding your own wave, thank you Khary for this positive message.

Untitled 02 06.23.2014. – Kendrick Lamar

GET GOD ON THE PHONE!!! Forreal though get him on the phone because this country needs Jesus right now. Seriously though, this song got me through those awful cold months of February & March because whenever I put this on it was absolute fire. Thank you Kendrick, you the realest.

Spread Love – Mick Jenkins

2016 had a lot of hate in it and often times left me feeling down. This song got me through those days and kept me having a positive attitude. Its great to have artists promoting positive messages & Mick’s whole album has this vibe so check that out if you haven’t because its dope.

Shades of Blue – Vic Mensa

Going to be serious for minute, Thank you Vic for this beautiful song. This song is really just talking that real talk and depicting the active problems in America. Vic is also a rapper that doesn’t just talk, he actually walks the walk, which makes this song even more powerful. This track always had me motivated to make a difference in my surrounding communities throughout the year.

We The People – A Tribe Called Quest

After America was in shambles over the election, A Tribe Called Quest gave us an album that helped ease our concern. This song specifically depicts how most of us are feeling right now and its great to see a rap song reflect this creatively. Thank you for this, gonna be bumping this album for months.

Lose – Travis Scott

Social media was on fire this year and the internet trolls were really out here commenting on everything from sports to the election -_-. So whenever I thought about responding to these people, I just flipped on this song and my urge to roast their lives over the web went away. Thank you Trav.

Man – Skepta

A lot of fakes out were here in 2016 calling you “fam” when you aren’t friends with them. Skepta depicts this frustration perfectly and made it a club hit record, genius.
