The Growlers’ new album City Club is soon to arrive and today they have released a new cut from that record. The latest track is titled “I’ll Be Around” and this funky joint is another one from the project that was produced by The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas. The bass line in this one will make you groove right from the start, and the big drums sound like they were inspired by JC’s Tyranny.
Call me crazy, but this sounds a bit like Cumbia! When you combine those previously mentioned elements with the synths, you get mad Latin vibes that I’ll make you want to dance out of this one. I’m a DF dude, and I know Cumbia when I hear it… and because I’m a DF dude, I love me some Cumbia!
City Club is out 9/30 on Cult Records. Hear “I’ll Be Around” below.
