Mick Jenkins has released his latest visuals for his song “Drowning,” featuring BADBADNOTGOOD. The video was directed by Nathan Smith and it’s a mighty powerful one. It follows Jenkins through the woods as he escapes his captors and later goes on to saving others, then connecting with other black men & women who nearly exact their revenge on the malevolent white duo before Mick puzzlingly lets them go. The song itself is pretty phenomenal too, with airs of Curtis Mayfield.
About a week ago, Mick announced his latest project The Healing Component will be arriving on September 23 on his Free Nation label and will be heading out on tour through the U.S. and Europe with Smino. Make sure to catch him on one of those dates! The album will include production from Kaytranada and features from theMIND, Ravyn Lenae, jSTOCK, Noname, Xavier Omar, and Michael Anthony (not the Van Halen one tho).
Check out the video above and look below for more details on The Healing Component.
