Beyoncé’s new album Lemonade has finally arrived, premiering via an HBO special of the same name. The album is now available via Columbia/Parkwood and it is streaming exclusively on Tidal. The features include Jack White, The Weekend, James Blake, and Kendrick Lamar. Towards the end of the special, Lemonade is called a “visual album” before the end credits rolled out.
The HBO special is more of a movie experience with amazing, cinematic visuals and spoken word refrains in between each song/video. A lot of the imagery centers around themes like Afro-centrism, sorrow, revenge, and family. If you ever needed an excuse to get HBO, this is it.
Apart from those features, there’s also a healthy amount of samples too. Among those are Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks” (“Don’t Hurt Yourself”), Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps” (“Hold Up”), Father John Misty (“Hold Up”) and Animal Collective’s “My Girls” (“6 Inch”). Co-producers include Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Diplo, Mike Will Made It, and Just Blaze.
Hear it exclusively on Tidal (previews below).
