In the first installment of Pitchfork.tv’s new five-episode mini-series “Yearbook” we learn about the burgeoning scenes of House and Hardcore music back in 1984. On the House front the episode talks about the importance of DJ Frankie Knuckles’ pioneering work while bands like Big Black and Naked Raygun paved the way for Chicago’s own unique take on hardcore.
“Yearbook” highlights music in Chicago, with each episode taking on one significant year in the city’s music history, as well as Chicago’s contributions to the larger music landscape. Check out episode one above.
