Sufjan Stevens has shared a demo version of “Chicago,” a cut from his 2005 cult classic Illinoise. That record will be getting a re-issue pressed and released on April 1st through Asthmatic Kitty, the 10th anniversary record will include that demo track along with original tunes, pressed onto a 12-inch in the shape of a star from the Chicago flag.
This early version of the song boasts the foundation of what you hear on the final product, so it’s great to hear this alternate arrangement. Hear the track below.
